High beam /low beam switch

High beam /low beam switch
Hi all,Short time lurker first time poster. My best freind just gave me his 1987 bronco,lots of rust but runs great. on my way home just the high beams worked,when i step on the switch to go to low beam they go out. i can not find any info on this switch in my Haynes or chilton manuals.

The dimmer switch is pretty cheap and easy to replace. You may also try replacing the headlights too. I have known a few guys that ran on high beams only once the low beams went out. they were just too lazy to replace the lights. I am pretty sure it is a fairly simple circuit. If replacing those item you still dont have lowbeams check for 12v at the plugs to the headlights. you could use a multimeter or a test light.

I agree with Alabama; replace the dimmer switch. I have had good results with spraying them with WD-40. This might revive it in a pinch, but it's best just to replace it.
