Just curious as to what the purpose of a resonator in conjunction to mufflers.... & why some trucks & vans have resonators & some don't. In a factory/custom system, isn't the muffler enough?
Any big sound difference on exhausts with/without resonators?
Not all vehicles have resonators in their exhaust systems.... thus the question I was asking... about the purpose of it.
Emission wise, I don't think it will affect it a bit because I had one installed yesterday & I went to look at it.... and I can see right thru it .... with that & to the replies of my posts as well as having one installed, I could conclude that resonators are just there to "resonate" the sound of the exaust. I just didn't know.... that it actually quiet it down a lot... at least for those who likes loud exhaust. Having said that though, I am happy with my choice of having one installed on my truck. 1. it reduced exhaust vibrations travelling into the cabin & 2. it tone the noise down to a deeper "growl." (still louder than stock because I mated it with a 50 series flowmaster, 2.5 " pipes, anda highflow cat)Which is the way I like. (at the time 70 series were sold out)
