During the last month of camping, my F-150 (300 six 5 speed 3.55 rear gear) I've notice it been running hoter and hoter. I put a 160 thermo in it, water seems to be moving in the rad. fan belt ok I run 60-65 mph pulling a 25 ft trailer, when I get into a small town or stop in a rest area the temp gage goes to the "r" on the temp gage. Driving down the highway it runs past the "L"Since I bought the truck in 94 it's never run hot, It's only got 55000 miles on it I put 10w30 oil evefry 3000 miles What should I be looking for HELP Thanks
Tested your FanClutch? On the front of your fan, there is a spring, if you take a screwdriver and unhook it and let it turn back 180 degrees, it will disengage your fan clutch, therefore your fan will be going continuously. If it stops overheating you need to replace it.
Thanks for all the help!!!!
I found the radiator was plugged from the bottom up 8".
I put a 4 row rad. in it, runs like it did new.
One helpful hint I learn was wet down the radiator before starting, when the the coolant flows it will dry the fins/tubes no flow stays wet longer.
Again I thank you all for you help
