Ok so I bought this truck on a whim. Guy said it needed a harmonic balancer( I replaced) still the vibration. Well figured it was the file plate (c4 tranny) it was fine right weight. Torque converter was good. Maybe it was the timing but no that was spot on to chiltons manual for this 302. Spark plug wires are right compression is strong vacuum lines are all good except the vacuum tree has a few plugged holes. I called the previous owner and he said he rebuilt it 6 months before I bought it and he had put a bigger crank and heavier rods but stock size pistons valves ect. Could this be the problem I'm boggled please help.

Ask the previous owner if the rotating assembly was balanced during the overhaul. Ask it just like that. If he did he will know what your talking about, if he hesitates then he didn't. If he didn't I would get out from under the truck fast, or plan on replacing the engine soon.
It was balanced and the vibration is coming from the engine or tranny it vibrates in park while driving smooths out at higher speeds but vibrates at high rpms
The previous owner may have put a new model crank in it, the old ones prior to 1980's (can't remember what year exactly) are 28.8 ounces of unbalance and newer model cranks are 50 ounces.
I'm thinking the same as "hd97fxdc" , i believe 81 was the 50 oz. balance. I bought what was supposed to have been a 79 302 and had the same problems you are having , turns out my 79 was an 81 . Changed to 50 oz. flywheel and problem solved .
