After another large drink poured onto my floor mat the other day, I have been trying to figure out a fix for the woefully shallow cup holders built into the center backrest/console. I think I can fashion something that will fit down and then twist into the cup handle grooves, that will lock it in place, then it would have a ring on top to hold the cups better. Anyone mess with this themselves? Maybe there is an easy fix before I try to fabricate something to avoid wearing my lemonade every few weeks.
^^^^ +1; haven't doused myself yet, but when I stood on the brakes the other day, and anointed the velour with coffee, let's just say it did not go over real well with the wife....
Yuh, I'm guessing they're stoopid shallow like that so there's still some foam on the other side, so when the back is up and someone's sitting there, it won't feel like there are two hard spots in the seat back. Seems like you could come up with something "compressible" - you push a cup into it and the bottom would push down, and you'd get the full depth to hold the cup more securely, but when you take the cup out, the bottom pops back up, so when you use it as a seat you still get the full cushioning.
I found some adjustable/universal units to fit in mine. They work ok but they still hold the cup a little "off center" on the bigger cups anyway. I also mounted a ranger console on the floor of my rig. Its a lot more stable and gives me some extra storage space
Looks like Bill is on it. Looking forward to pics Bill!. Driving with a ZF is no fun when a person has an affliction (ur, I mean addiction to), for coffee.
I'm curious to see what you guys come up with. I have to admit that I have drained a few ounces of Java onto my carpets a few times as well.
Funny story; the guy I got this truck from is a good old boy that lives in teh back woods out in the sticks in Central Ohio and when I went to look at the truck, he was, of course, carrying a regular (ceramic) mug of coffee. When we took the truck out for a ride, he must have said a dozen times "I just love these cupholders!" Kept going on and on and on about how nice they were for holding a mug, lol. In his defense, for a regular size, ceramic mug with a flat bottom, they do a pretty good job! I guess the issue comes when you try to install a more modern weapons grade mobile java delivery device (travel mug).
After riding in a 2013 f150 with eco boost. I'm just going to find a wrecked one and install the whole front seat setup in my truck. Better chairs, better center console, better ... well everything.
