Question tailgate strength?!?

I was wondering if anyone has tried to haul a ATV in the back of a bronco before?
With the top off the spare removed and the seat folded up it looks like one may fit.
But would the tailgate support loading and unloading of it?
Plus I think it would look cool too

tailgate strength?!?

The tailgate should be able to handle the weight...Its heavier than the regular F-series T-gate. I've had three adults ride on the open gate in parades and never had a problem. Check the condition of the stop cables, they tend to weaked quickly if the vinyl coating has split. My concern would be securing the ATV. Wouldn't recommend relying on the folded up seat to keep it from rolling forward.

I agree with greystreak: the cables are definitely the important things. New ones are only ~$12 from a parts store.

Use the bar that the back seat locks onto for a tie-down under the 4-wheeler, or pull the whole rear seat and use its hinge brackets.

tailgate strength?!?

yo, From our 96's Owner's Guide:
"...When open, the tailgate load should not exceed 500 lbs (227 kgs). If you want to load heavy items onto your vehicle, Ford recommends that you load them one at a time, directly on the bed
floor to avoid damage to the tailgate or its supports..."
After securing to the seat's stuff as Steve described, how about using wide webbing and securing the atv through the back under the t'gate (over the weatherbelt, thus messing the wb up eventually, but who cares when you're having fun?) and down to the bumper/frame area, w/ a cinch somewhere in the webbing??
