looking for anyone who has taken their 351w and made a 393 stroker. I rebuilt my 351 last fall, bumped up the comp ratio to about 9, crane 260 cam, small chamber 74 heads with the exhuast bumps taken out, factory four BBL intake and carb, headers, true 2 1/4 duals. Dont get me wrong, its not at all low on power by any means, but don't we all want more. I want to know how much of a power gain I could expect from a 393 over what I've got now.

Thanks,
scott

making power from a windsor stroker depends on the heads. no factory head will flow the nimbers needed to supply it. and the money you spend doing factory heads, you can buy fantastic aftermaket heads.
without putting it on a chassis dyno you can only guess at the power. the difference i noticed was alot more low end torqe, especially when towing.
if you do a stroker, dont build it the cheapest way. you only get what you pay for.

Agreed, but spend that dough on a set of heads and you will get more power for less money than it would cost to do a stroker rebuild. World products iron castings come to mind as a economical and durable high performance head.
