I bought a Ranger last month, got it home and the next day the clutch had no pressure, but I could shift when the truck was off. I got it into the garage, and I dropped the transmission to find out what was wrong. There was a leak where the line from the master cylinder came into the slave. I put the transmission back up and fixed the leak.
Now it won't shift. I've bled the master and slave several times, but it still seems kinda soft. But now I can't shift at all, even when the truck is off. It definitely feels different when I try to shift than it did before.
The transmission did kinda fall once when I was trying to get it back on. So I'm wondering if the gears aren't aligned right or something? Or maybe I'm just putting the shifting stick in wrong lol idk.
Its hard to get air out of the ranger system once it gets in there, and it sounds like may have installed the shifter wrong. Pull the small cover off, using a bright light, look in and using a big screwdriver, get the shifters in natural.
Right... of course. I put it into gear when I took the drive shaft off. lol that's probably what's wrong with it.
EDIT:
The shifter is fixed, but I'm still having trouble with the clutch. The first vid I watched on how to bleed the master said to take the piston out, so I did... I wonder if something happened with that. I don't think the pedal is going down as much as it should, because the sensor that's on there is not being pushed down enough. I'm pushing the pedal all the way to the floor, but the truck won't start because of the sensor. If I push the sensor up, then it starts fine. When I disconnect the pedal, the pedal can go up almost an inch. So I'm thinking the piston isn't coming out far enough or what?
Something is wrong with the position of the clutch pedal. When I hook it up, it looks like it's already partly pushed in. I push it all the way to the floor, and the piston only moves about half the distance it needs to. I have a spare master cylinder, and I hooked that up, and I still have the same problem. When I disconnect it, I can pull the pedal up another inch at least.
