Engine swap

Hello, new to the forum here, I just bought a 1979 F100 and its got the 351M in it. I really wanna power it out but im on a budget. One of my options is getting a crate 460 but am not sure yet if I rather do that or just really get my hands dirty and swap out parts and make that big ol' 351 a powerhouse. If you got ideas please let me know.

I thought this was a Ranger forum, but I'll answer your question anyway, The best thing to do with a 351M ( besides using it as a boat anchor) is to pull it and swap in a 400 crank and pistons ( 351M's are simply destroked 400's) then put in a hotter cam, headers, 4 bbl intake and a 650-750 carb. Dpending on the comp ratio you end up with ( most 400's had 7.9-8.5 to 1 comp ratios only the 71 400's had 9 to 1) you can get the HP up to 350-450 hp.
