After replacing alternator , finding out there are two fuses for alternator (one in engine compartment blown). Checking voltage running and not (12.8 not running 14 when running) . The battery light stays on? I have a 96 ranger , can't find wiring schematic.
Please Help.
Thanks in advance!!!!!
You have a later model, so I don't know if you have an alternator with a intergral regulator, or the system with a seperate reg. If you have an integral reg/alt, and the wires are on right, then the store may have given you a bad alternator. Believe it or not, this happens alot. If you have the seperate reg, then the reg sounds bad. It's the regulator's job to decide if the alternator is putting out, and turn the light on or off. Yours is charging, so the light should be off.
Thanks Dave, Second alternator, it appears to be working correctly 14v when started . The regulator is internal . Do you know if there is a relay for this the gauge is showing normal?
Thanks so much it is very helpful at least I know where the signal comes from.
Thanks again!!!!
