I have a friend that called me this weekend, his 2000 7.3 died and would not start. I went the next morning to load it on my Goose neck trailer and tried to start it and it started right up and ran for two days. It has started two or three times now but will die after a few miles.
I brought it to my shop and it threw a P0340 camshaft position sensor circuit malfunction. Also a P-1670 code, electronic feedback signal not detected. And also the engine coolant sensor reading -40 degrees. O and one more a injector drive module.
Are all these tied to one problem or are some symptoms of one item gone bad?

Thanks for any help.
I'd sure start with the CPs - they fail regularly and seem to cause all kinds of different symptoms and issues. Be sure to get a Ford or International one as the others are generally considered garbage.
How does the truck run when it does start? Also, you might want this in the 1999-2003 7.3 forum rather than here. Mostly similar but some definite differences.

It runs fine Air drove it to his house the first time it did it about 10 miles.
No, I just got started on it last night, in a parking lot. I'm taking my 97 and goose neck trailer to bring it to my shop this afternoon. I have church tonight so It will be Thursday afternoon before we start to get into it.
Forgot to mention, I put a cam sensor on it , no dice.............
did you put a ford or IH sensor on it? Plenty of posts on here about putting on a napa or other and it being bad out of the box. Did you check oil level? Peek at the fuel filter?
Well guys I took off at lunch to get my trailer, and at 3:00 I took off work , went to pick up my big ratchet straps and boomers and called my buddy to get his wife to bring me the keys so I could go on and get it early. My trailer has a 15000 lb winch on it. If it had not started I was gonna just drag her butt on there anyway......... lol
He calls her and she told him she had gotten it started and carried it to a shop in another town............ He ain't real happy.........
I'm sorry for wasting all you guys time. If I find out what the problem was I will post it here.
Truck started doing the same thing again, now it is at my shop. I found the IDM Modual relay bad, replaced it and it started. But it was slow to start, it had to wait for the engine oil pressure to climb before it would start.
My friend had changed the oil and went to Scheaffer 15-40 about a week before this happened. I had him short change the oil and run it a week or two and then change the filter. It starts right away now like my 97 does.
The Scheaffer oil will break lose any dirt or sludge in the engine if dirty and load the filter, I have seen this before.
Here is the kicker though, now when you turn on the windshield wipers the engine starts running ruff and dies. You can crank all you want and no start, but as soon as you turn the wipers off it fires right up.
I don't think my buds paying the preacher enough...........
What in the world would cause that............
This truck is a very nice 80,000 mile 2000 4 door dually not butchered or anything, looks new under the hood.
Thanks for the help guys, This one has me baffled..........
Wipers , cam sensor . Search it here . It is an Issue ! I have seen it posted before . .... Did you put an IH or Ford cam sensor in ? You can't buy a good one aftermarket . The wiper causes interferance that will show a bad CPS .
