Vacuum choke issues?
I've got a problem with the choke on a 302 on my 72 f100. The truck starts like a dream. it doesnt even need gas, you can just reach in turn key and vrooooom.
.....but then it dies after a few seconds. this process repeats for 4-5 min until it is warm (hot). Then, once it gets hot, it idles WAY to high... to the point of when I put it in gear, it almost slams the tranny...I turned out the idle sscrew to lowere this, but it makes my cold warm up even worse... I wonder if I have vaccum line problem or what....
thanks.....

When the engine is cold grab the accelerator rod & hold it to the full throttle position.
Now, pressing your finger on the choke linkage see if the butterfly plates flop down to the closed position and that the linkage is not binding.

Once it is warm try this.
With engine off pull on the accelerator rod to full throttle.
Now push down on the choke linkage and see if it is loose and then let go & see if the butterfly plates are flopping back to the vertical position.
