I purchased a1999 F350 7.3 with 60k and a 3.73 locking diff, clutches are making the usual racket on a right or left turn from a stopped position. Can someone tell me the correct fluid to use and the additive (?) that I need to add to the diff to correct this problem. I am quite sure that the noise is what I think it is, it does not make it unless I am making a right or left turn from a complete stop, no noise if I am going straight.
I also plan to pull an enclosed 24 ft race car trailer and was wondering about what kind of receiver hitch to install (total weight of trailer and cargo about 8000 lbs) and since this is a single rear wheel F350 lwb, if air bags would be a good choice to prevent the sagging of the suspension.
It's actually a Limited Slip if it's the stock unit. Ford sells Friction modifier for it. Your local dealership should be able to help you out. I don't know the part number.
