V10 to 6.0

I'm considering selling my V10 guys.... Had an offer of Seven thousand on my v10. Found a 6.0 with 219k on it and he has receipt of injectors being done by Ford itself....

Here is the link: 2005 Ford F250 Diesel

looks decent. u need to have someone with AE go and plug it in and check everything before u buy. heck, even a scangauge 2 can tell u the temp delta. if it's more than 15 degrees, stay away from it. sounds like the egr cooler was replaced, but ford recommends tat "when u change the egr cooler, to also change the oil cooler, and vice versa". to tat effect. dont quote me exactly, but i read this somewhere on a TSB. has the oil cooler been replaced?

I don't know about the oil cooler. I have a lot of automotive experience. I know the problems of the 6.0 but was told if issues are fixed it can be a very good truck. I just don't know the terminology for the stuff that can break. I know what ficm and egr and ect and eot are.... Just not CAC boots or stuff like that.

very nice. the egr cooler is actually plugged into the oil cooler. it's directly below the turbo. yes, u are right. when the issues are addressed and fixed, she's one heck of a truck.

CAC boots are usually the blue foamy boots over a large metal (aluminum) tube on the passenger side, and it'll be coming out of the turbo and it'll snake down to the passenger side of the radiator (intercooler).

i believe ur 6.9 f-250 was a cummins engine in it, right?

the egr cooler and the oil cooler are essential for stock trucks. usually when the egr cooler plugs up, the oil cooler will be plugged up by then. but yes, u gotta do some reading. actually, if ur in houston, i could give u the rundown on the 6.0 engine off of my engine. if u got facebook, u can connect with me and u can see my tech album that i maintain. it's more in-depth than i can put out here. if u do facebook, u can find me under "dominic khoo".

But I believe cummins built the 6.9. Just like international and navistar built the 6.0. Tat was way back then. Ford got irritated tat they had to pay a lot to cummins every time they sold a diesel truck. Tats why they went with international. Cheaper. Not ur fault.

In fact all of Ford's diesel engines in their light duty trucks have been international motors, that is until the scorpion came out, which was an in house. There hasn't been a cummins light duty factory ford truck.

At any rate.... How is the 6.0 for reliability with new injectors EGR delete and some kind of oil cooler mod. Also heard coolant filter was the way to go. Same goes for the 6.9 and 7.3 engines

Maybe this will help. It's not as bad as it looks .

I think the 6.0 can be very reliable with good an aftermarket monitor, preventative maintenance, and servicing. It's pretty unforgiving if you try to ignore issues and keep driving though.
