Hello, in my search for a vehicle a talk with a friend of mine (mechanic) restored my faith in Dodge. Though I love Ford vehicles, despite the problematic truck I own I simply can't find a good price for Fords in my area. The reason I don't purchase a car is because I want something safe (don't want the bumper of a truck coming through my side window when T-Boned). There are too many drunks on the road at the time of night I commute, and I have dealt with automotive deaths far too often. I want a substantial vehicle, and I would like it to have decent gas milage (pretty demanding ), by decent I mean 14-15 mpg at least. So I turned to diesels, couldn't find a good price on a Ford diesel, then I tried the V-10, couldn't find a good price there either. It seems people want to hold on to their Powerstrokes and Tritons. So now I'm turning to Cummins, though many comments have been made about the quality of a Dodge vehicle. It seems many people agree the Cummins is a fabulous motor, and many also agree the truck surrounding the motor is anything but fabulous. But what in your unbiased opinions could I expect from a Dodge diesel?
1. Fuel Mileage
2. Passenger Room
3. Sound System (can I put 12" subs uner the back seats of a quad cab?)
4. Durability, will this thing last?
P.S. I'm sure you're wondering why am I posting this on a Ford Forum; the answer is I couldn't find a decent Dodge forum to ask the question. If you'd like to point me in the direction of a good reliable Dodge forum I would greatly appreciate it.
the Cummins is a much better engine than the Powerstroke... so much better that Ford puts it in their F650's! better fuel mileage, better power, stronger and longer lasting design, etc. etc. etc.
