Hey i got a number of problems with my truck and was needing some advice or help. The truck has 26k miles. I recently checked the coolant and noticed it was a light brown color with dirt particles floating around in it so i took it and got it flushed i checked the truck before i left the service center and it was bright red coolant and as soon as i got home i checked again and it was brown again with even more dirt floating around in the resevoir i checked the oil to its been at the same level and its not a milky white color and theres no trace of oil in the resevoir. i was thinking about buying a new radiator and hoses and just replacing the whole thing what are your guys opinion. Another thing im about to change the oil again and my truck is 5.4l v8 and it ticks softly when running under 25mph and it stops as soon as it goes over 25 ive read that it all depends on the oil filter any ideas on how i can get the ticking to stop. thanks for all the advice i appreciate it.
I can say with conviction that replacing your radiator and hoses would do nothing but lighten your wallet.
No clue what's causing your coolant to become contaminated though. I'd suggest flushing it again and seeing what happens. Is your truck still under warranty?
Can't answer the coolant question, but I can say that the ticking is most likely the cam phasers you're hearing. Nothing you can do about it, they normally tick like that. Mine ticks as well.
ok then and the ticking doesnt bother me at all just wondering if there was a way to dampen the noise and i will continue flushing the radiator and see what happens thanks for the help.
