I have a '51 Dana 44 and want to put in a limited slip. My friend has a junked '80 Ford Bronco. I decoded the vin and it has a limited slip rear so would the front also have a limited slip?
If it does how do I remove the ring carrier while the axle is on the truck? I know I would have to remove the axles but how do I do this. Also would the ring and pinion work with my rear axle or would the ring and pinion be reversed?
Hi 51, personally I would just buy an axle from a specialty axle shop. That way you know it would fit. Do an online search, but, also buy a copy of a hotrod truck mag and look in the ads.
Broncos can have limited slip rears and/or fronts.

The front won't be L/S just because the back is, and the D44IFS uses reverse-cut gears which shouldn't (but could) be used in a regular axle. You can find how to disassemble it here.
