has anybody used lizard skin or a produckt like it? i want to do both sound and heat insulation. do you think a gallon of each will do the floors/fire wall, behind the seat, in the doors and under the headliner?
Never used Lizard Skin myself, but "heard" good things about it....pricey stuff, there's other stuff on the market that claims to do the same thing for half the price.
I've looked at it and had a buddy who used it & loved it. The thing about Lizard skin is the class A (think that's it) fire rating. Which means if the truck catches fire the smoke from the burning/melting bedliner won't be toxic to you. Plus I believe it's a higher temp burn rate.
I'm looking at doing Lizard skin (both the heat & sound versions) on the underside of the cab & bed & then Al's liner or Raptor liner inside.

i ordered up the lizard skin, should be here wed or thursday. i think im going to do the skin on the inside and raptor liner the under side later when i do the bed.
i figure bed linner, made to get beat on in the bed of a truck will stand up to road abuse as a undercoating and the lizard skin i just dont know how it would hold up. i know it will hold up fine under a carpet though. it should work the same as far as sound and temp control go inside or outside. il let you know how tough the lizard skin is when i do my truck.
why are you thinking of doing it the other way? maybe you have a better logic
Didn't realize you were putting carpet in over it. I personally am not a fan of carpet in a truck. I want to be able to take my seats out & pretty much hose the bad boy out. That is why the vast majority of the onside of my cab will be getting coated.
The reason I'm coating both the inside and underside of both the cab & bed is mainly for sound deadening due to the diesel. Since I don't want to run carpet & I'll have a loud, clacky motor I need everything I can get to help keep the cab quiet. Oh, and cool too - which is part of why I plan to do lizard skin under the cab & on engine side of firewall = they have the temp control one.
I'm doing Al's or Raptor inside as my thought is it's less likely to see as much heat or fire (hopefully/theoretically) so I can be "cheap" and go with a less expensive product here.
