Hollywood Park Closing
Hollywood Park will close at end of year | Daily Racing Form
Not really too surprising, it's been rumored off and on for years. I never really cared for HP too much...would much rather go to Santa Anita...but it's still kind of sad to see another SoCal institution go away.

Bay Meadows, and now this.
Been to Hollywood Park only once, and that was for an office party.
I agree with you, Santa Anita is THE L.A. area destination for horse racing.
My all-time favorite track experience, however, is watching morning work-outs at Keeneland at dawn after breakfast in the jockey's dining room.

I have been there once for some horse racing, and a number of times for work related events (all the auto manufacturers seem to hire out the carpark for L.A. based launch events) - its almost around the corner from where I work.
It looked like it was an impressive facility back in the day, but the type of crowd it attracted for horse racing was um... not what I expected, and I was not in a rush to go back.
I have heard Del Mar is really nice.
