i just installed my 8" superlift, well about a week-or-so ago. Did your bolts there not have that tab sticking out of the fram that aligned the nuts? your nuts were on the outside and the bolts were in the frame??? Is yours a 99? i know my '02 and my dads 00 both have the nuts inside the frame. If it absolutly came down to it could you weld that bracket onto the fram or does it need to have thesmall amount of flex given by the bolts? good luck rrmike
The problem is with my brothers truck not mine. I'm trying to help him out and I thought his was the same as mine. Perhaps not. My truck is fine. My front track bar bracket bolt does in fact extend down from inside the frame. I don't know if it's stock or not. Probably not since it had an adjustable track bar bracket on it with a leveling kit when I bought it. I'm just curious how the bolt got inside my frame? I don't know at this point. Maybe this weekend I'll have him come over and we'll examine his more closely.
here's the trick:
If you still have the tab with the nuts crimped on....
Start the forward bolt first. Do not tighten all the way, just get it started in the threads.
The second (rear) bolt is easier to start, as you can see in the square hole a little easier.
If someone was careless when they took off the bolts, the steel plate can be bent at a slightly different angle. This will affect how the second bolt threads in. If you cross-thread it, just put a bolt in from the top and then add a nut on the bottom. You can use an offset-box end wrench to hold the bolt from the top. (bolt on top is easier than trying to push it up from the bottom, if your factory nut assembly has been damaged.)
