2000 Expedition backfire

Hello All,
I am hoping you might be able to point me in the right direction...
I have a 2000 Eddie Bauer Expedition with 173,000 miles. The car seems to be running fine (idle, cruise) but when I accelerate it backfires. There are no codes stored. Check engine light doesn’t come on during driving. I replaced spark plugs (Motorcraft) and nothing changed. I replaced the coils and spark plugs again. Car has more pep but it still backfires on acceleration. I cleaned the throttle body, air temp sensor but the same thing…
Does anyone of you have experience this issue? Can anyone advise me on the next steps?

Backfire usually refers to a lean after-fire condition which comes out of the exhaust. Normally this would only occur when decelerating.
If something is happening with accelerating, it probably is then coming back thru the intake. This would happen when an intake valve is still open when the spark plug fires or detonation occurs, forcing burnt fuel back up the intake manifold.
Either a spark plug with excessive carbon buildup that allows a premature firing or a burnt valve in my opinion.
