How do you identify the 1bbl's? I have a carter on my f250(300-6) and I can't find matching numbers to identify it, and it needs a rebuild.

My carb is a motocraft E2TE-BVA. I'm not sure a carter will work. I talked to a guy that says he switched different carbs on his truck as long as the air line hookups were the same, but I don't have a way to tell if a carter would work. I talked to the ford dealer here and they said it was a original carb. My throttle is all worn out and real sloppy. I'll do some checking to try and find out if a carter will work thanks

Check the end of the shaft where the lever attaches. Carter carbs and some of the Holleys were bad about the shaft staking getting loose with age.
When I get back to Newport News, I have a collection of Ford YFA carbs including a feedback one. I will see what I have.

You might have to put throttle shaft bushing in , if the base plate holes are wore

So should I order a rebuild kit for an 83 carb? Are the rebuild kits any different?

I meant to say should I go to the store and say I have an 83f250 with a 300-6 and order the kit with that number?
