How to use I-POD with SOUNDMARK stock radio?

How to use I-POD with SOUNDMARK stock radio?
I have a 2006 Navi and noticed there is a AUX button on my radio, however I have only been able to get the DVD player to work on that option. Is there another plug where I can pug my IPOD into or do I needto get an adapter?
