Need help with technical details

ok, so, this is probably a trio of complicated questions

my first major question is, out of an automatic transmission, what kind of fuel mileage can I expect with a 460 CID (7.5 L) 385 V8?
hopefully the link stays up.
1977 Ford F350 Supercab
now, just for fun, how does the Chevy 454 cu in (7.4 L) V8 stack up?
so, the other engines I've been looking at are the Chevy 350 cu in (5.7 L) V8
400 cu in (6.6 L) V8
and ford 351 CID (5.8 L) Windsor V8 400 CID (6.6 L) 335 V8. so I would like to know, what kind of fuel mileage can I expect and what should I look for, like low mileage, good care? etc. (yes I know this is a ford forum, but with older trucks it doesn't matter to me as much compared to new trucks.)

2: in older trucks like this, what aspects should I look for? how clean it is? upkeep? etc etc..

3: any good ways besides craigslist and driving around looking for these rigs to find them? I would like a crew cab, an extended cab is fine. ive seen a couple chev's and a gmc, as well as the ford above. should I hold out for 4WD or go for 2WD? out in Oregon its mostly rainy, occasional hail and snow, so it could be about anything.

1. 10-12 mpg

2. Depends. What do you eventually want to do with it?

3. Try Old Ford Crew Cab Community, Pre 1980 Ford Crew Cab owners community and information source. Second, what do you want? If you're ever thinking of getting a 4x4 then do so... converting a 2WD rig to 4WD is typically beyond the resources (time, money, skills, knowledge, reality) of anyone who asks about it.

2: this vehicle will be a daily driver. I refuse to buy anything but a truck. I do a LOT of metalworking, so... I wont drive too much, to work and school, if work is in town, the local college even with a coffin (a smart car) is more expensive compared the bus. I would like to put a decent sound system in it, a custom exhaust and air intake, which will help economy some. some custom bumpers might be another aspect.

3: I definitely want the crew cab for hunting, and comfort. the 4WD would be for putting a winch on to get my buddies unstuck when bogging, they need someone, and I don't have the $$$ to make a truck that way.

thank you much HIO Silver.

Dually

So, with a dually, what will that due to my MPG, turning radius, and how much harder does that make it to work on? I've seen quite a few crew cab dually's. don't need one but, the extra towing is nice.

I still haven't found one better than the '78 gmc Sierra 30 or 35 camper special, crew cab, SRW, 2wd, 350, unknown mileage though, rebuilt engine. A crack in the hood. I'm kinda dissapointed with myself, anywhere else to look for crew cabs? I don't want to ship a vehicle, and don't want to drive 500 miles to get it either.
