getting ready to clean my divorced TC.rear drive has a slip yoke,is that good or not as good.Replacing gaskets ,bearings, any other good upgrades i should consider?thankyou
It doesn't have a slip yoke. No highboy had a slip yoke. They are all fixed yokes. All the highboys have a slip section (lacking proper term) in the drive shaft itself. Most 4x4's are that way.
As far as upgrades, if you are replacing drive shafts swap your yokes to 1350. They get spendy but they are a lot stronger.
I'm going through one of these right now. Check the yokes for grooving of the seal surface. There are repair sleaves but I have seen them go both ways as to working or not. Also check the thrust washers on the input shaft. Had some pretty good pitting there.
Thanks all.co425 thanks for the info on the slip joint, spline, I am replacing front and rear drive shafts, was going to keep small drive shaft,,,I am swapping to 1350 yokes, before ordering shafts,,,,,Do you know off hand the torque for the yokes on the t/c, anyway Thanks so much, also putting 1350 front and rear dana 60 ft lbs pinion nut for axle?(Revised)

The torque on the np205 nut is 130-150 ft lbs.
AND WHOA ON THE 250-270 ft lbs ON YOUR AXLE YOKES!!!!!!!!!!
The axle yokes on a used and new crush sleeve are torqued via rotaitional torque. It is in the 15-30 in lbs range. You have to pull the axles and use a dial in lbs torque wrench.
Watch this its not a dana 60 but you get the idea.
becareful what you read,I should have learned by now ,I pulled those # off reveiw,Thankyou so much.anyway,I have to pull the axle for installing the yoke, looks like the rear locker is coming early.Did you install 1350 for small intermediate axle,Ill be running a 460 moderatly built, thanks again
My intermediate will be either 1410 on one end and 1350 on the other or 1410 all the way. Haven't decided yet. I have a 1350 yoke already for the T Case. The NV4500 output is a 1410.
Dana 60 in these trucks should have pinion preload set with shims, NOT crush sleeve. dana 60 pinion nut torques to 240-300 ft lbs while developing 17-30 in/lbs pinion bearing preload. This preload is with the seal installed I believe.

I stand corrected a little. I was assuming since dana 60 front has a sleeve a rear would too. My rear is a 14 bolt and it has a crush sleeve as well.
I have purchased parts from Northwest Fabricators,I like those folks, there is another place purchased big universls American something ,or Northern something ,Ill try and locate the actuall name of that location ,they carried any universal I needed for pto's,they may also have yokes.(Jeffs Bronco Graveyard has them)
WFO concepts down the road from me carries the proper 32 spline yokes. You have to swap the seal to NP205 input & front and rear output seal National/Timken seal pt#473468--2.125" bore, 3.066 outside diameter, 0.375 depth. They sell them at most parts stores. The web site is wfoconcepts.com. I have ordered literally thousands of dollars of parts from them, and they have always been reliable.

I wonder if WFO carries the seals as well?I have another ? pertaining to the selector screws at the top of t/c,where the roller bearing is at.Should I replace them seeing the t/c is out of the truck?
