Hey folks, wondering if anyone here has suggestions. I am from MN but me and my fiance are going to get married in either Vermont or Maine. We would like to have the ceremony on a boat but are thinking about having it at an inn or B&B. Does anyone know of any nice reasonable places we should look into? A July 2004 wedding is planned so if it's at an Inn we would have an outside wedding.
A friend of ours got married on the Natilie Todd in Bar Harbor a few years ago. The Natalie is 80-100 foot three masted old-time wooden sailboat. It normally takes passengers for day or afternoon cruises but you can rent the ship for a couple hours. The coast of Maine is a world-class sailing destination and the views of Mount Dessert Island from Bar Harbor can't be beat. The boat is owned by a Capt. Pagels and is easy to find on the net or through the local chamber. You could also do it on top of Acadia Natiional Park's Cadillac Mountain which overlooks Bar Harbor and Frenchman Bay. The road to the summit would also make it easy for the old folks.
That could be arranged although you'd have to get yourself out to New England. We want to get married on a boat as the sun is setting. Provided we get lucky enough and the sun is shining that day.

Crabbing is for those people down in Maryland. In Maine where I grew up It was lobstering.
Try Kennebunk Port. The Nonantum is really nice(used to work there) and the Colony is cool too. My brother got married in a hotel in between the two a couple of years ago, Can't remember the name though.
Check out Camden Hills, Maine. Very nice area, without the annoying tourists. It's also pretty much in the middle of all the stuff you'd want to do in Maine.
You really should check out Cape Cod. If I had the money, I'd move there in an instant. You mentioned you wanted to be married at sunset. The very end of Cape Cod is the only place in the world where you can stand in one spot and watch the sun rise and set over an ocean. Any good newstand will carry "Cape Cod" magazine- it will provide a lot of good information. If you love seafood, Cape Cod is the greatest place in the world! Very romantic, too- your fiancee will love it.
