rear axle

i recently purchased a used 2001 ford expedition and have noticed the rear axle appears to be out of alignment. on the driver side rear the clearance is about an inch and a half from the suspension bolt causing the tire to rub in certain situations such as turns and bumps. on the passenger side the clearance is about three and half inches from the supension bolts behind the tire. is there a way to correct this?

Did you get a Carfax or Autocheck report on the truck when you bought it? Did it show any accident history? I would say take it to an alignment shop and let them have a look at it.

no i guess it wasnt wise of me. i will take it to get checked out.

Make sure the rear trailing arms haven't rusted through and broken.
