I haven't really noticed any one brand getting more flak than the others, with the exception that most Ford, Chevy, and Dodge guys will gladly stop bickering and team up against foreign carmakers
I personally have no problem with other brands. I got my F-250 because I got an absolutely fantastic deal on it, I'd just as quickly have jumped on a Chevy, Dodge, or especially a Toyota if it were in similar condition for the price.
Apart from lemons, how good a vehicle is seems to be more dependent on how well its cared for than anything else. My dad has an '02 Chevy 2500HD, and all that's gone wrong in the ~8 years that we've owned it is the fan clutch, a broken AC belt, and an oxygen sensor that was going bad and gave a CEL. Everything gets maintained and it's never abused. My coworker, on the other hand, his '04 Tundra to my knowledge has never had any real problems... except when he neglected to do some recall work, and one of the wheels came off. (I love mocking his "Three-wheeled Tundra")
Indiana seems to be right in the middle of Chevy country, and most of them seem to be **** talkers. I can't tell you how many times someone has asked my if my Ford came with the "heated tailgate option".
On the other hand, it seems like the diesel crowd in my town can appreciate any nice truck and only have positive things to say no matter what brand they prefer.
my family has owned everything probably the best vehicle out of them all 01 4runner auto v6 4wd, after 10 years the original battery went bad, changed the brakes once and a timing belt, 130,000 plus miles
ive driven chevy dodge ford only the ford hasnt left me on the side of the road yet lol
Around here (Charlotte County) it's mostly Chevy guys, although Ford is a close second. Not too many folks care for Dodge, and there are more of them in the junkyard than any other truck.
As for people trash talking Ford... I tell them to check out the pickup trucks next time they go by a construction site. Just about every one of them is a Super Duty. Check out the Sheriff's office, Highway Patrol, Fish & Wildlife, etc... more Fords than anything.
I notice it too. I think the 6.0L diesel, TTB and Mazda transmissions (not all on the same truck obviously) contributed to it. That and everybody wants to take down the top dog.
Obviously, I am a diehard Ford fan.....always have been and always will. I used to absolutely HATE Chevrolet's....but I have so many friends that drive Chevy's, that I've realized there not all that bad, but still not sure if I'd ever own one
Dodge/Chrysler on the other hand I can say from experience are quality vehicles. My mom has a 99' Chrysler Town and Country that she bought new. It currently has some where around 115K on it, and we have NEVER had anything mechanical gone wrong with it. Other than cosmetic damage, glass and tires, nothing has ever gone wrong. Also, for over 20 years, my father owned a silt fence business (black mesh-type fencing scene at construction sites) So he always pulled a bobcat skid steer. I think he had a few Chevy trucks in the 80's then switched to Ford at the end of that decade and got a new Ford within every 5 years. The last Ford he bought was in 2002 - It was a 350 Dually flatbed with the 7.3. Within those 5 years, he had 4 transmissions replaced along with other problems. So when he wrecked in in 07' (a Jaguar hit him head-on), he bought a 2004 Dodge 2500 longbed with a Hemi with 42,000. It now has 85,000 and it runs like new. Just like the van, nothing mechanical has ever gone wrong with it. One exception being an alternator being replaced at around 50,000. And you talk about suspension...you can have a full load on it and the thing doesn't even squat!
Sorry about this little supportive post of Chrysler product, and yes...I am a FORD MAN. It's just that we have had good luck with Dodge.
im always hearing and have been hearing for a few years that fords the number one selling truck for 37 years running. but what is the actual number. it doesnt seem to change ever. my friends are all divided between chevy and ford. so us ford guys give our chevy friends alot of crap.
I dont know the actual numbers deljac but i do know there was a time period where ford trucks were the best selling VEHICLE in the country and throughout the 90's outsold GMC and chevy combined and also today are outselling gmc and chevy combined today
As far as dodge trucks are concerned the transmissions are junk, they are better today than they were in the past but i still know of some newer cummins owners that have already had theirs go out
There is good and bad points on all makes of trucks .If we could take all the good from CHEVY Ford and Dodge and make one Truck we would have one hell of a Truck.
It is simply because Ford has been the number one selling truck for 36 years.... look at all the Chevy and dodge commercials who do they try to bring down of course Ford lol..... what i love about the ford commercials is the are no BS they usually just state the facts like horse and torque because its more than chev or dodge
P.S. Chevy - "longest lasting most dependable truck on the road" id like to see the proof of that LMFAO
LOL, they arnt really that dependable...I test drove a 2012 Chevey truck (full size one) at the time I was looking for the truck I have now, and its transmission fell out from under neath it as in it broke...glad it happened infrom of the Ford I have now so alls good and the rest is history nuff said...
Ford is kinda like the NY Yankees; they have been so good for so long that while they have many loyal fans, everyone who is not a fan will find anything they can to talk crap about. Either love em or hate em kinda thing.
