Happy weekend!!!!!!
I have a pretty good day planned. Im off to Campo di Bocce then over to Umigo for some racing. I should be pooped by end of day.
Don't forget Qualifying Gigs,,
No I didn't, missed it somehow, but I went back and found it. $500-800 for a car that runs good but can't be smogged. What good would that be? Since I would need to get it smogged in order to drive it legally. I remember the carbs on those things were expensive somewhere around $900 because they were electronically controlled. as much as I would love to get another RX-7, I think I will pass on that one, and look for one that can pass smog. (Although, in the State of California, the seller is responsible for the smog, so if he wants to sell it, he better figure out a way to get it to pass. He does that, and I would be interested, even if it means paying more for it. Which I would not have a problem with.)
Right. He'd said the part it needs was something like $700-800. It's not so much that he's actively trying to sell it, he just has no use for it right now. He keeps it registered and up here we only have to smog vehicles once, no annual, biannual checkups.
My brother lives in Oregon, and only 2 cities require smog there, and he does not live near either of them. One is Portland, and I believe the other one was Medford. Besides that, another thing I like about Oregon is their registration options. unlike California which forces you to register every year, You can choose to register for 1, 2, or 4 years. In any case, I may just buy that RX-7 anyway after I get the settlement. They are such a blast to drive. There is a place in Long Beach called MazdaTrix I believe that is coaxing 200hp out of those little 12a motors. That would make it downright scary.
Good to hear hanklin. I'm heading down to Chico at the end of the month for my buddies graduation. Not looking forward to you southern NorCal guys heat...
Jim: I talked to my neighbor with the RX7 today. He says it wont smog because of something in the carb. Figures he'd ask like 500-800 for it since it runs good.
That's a good deal for a running 12A, wish it had the injected 13B. any more photos for us
I can get parts for very cheap and even got "smog" hooks.
BTW nighteyes, I can probably get a good used carb for 12A around 100-200 tops. I don't think those were electronically controlled unless FI.
I would be happy to help a fellow get into a rotary mazda like I have so many others.
My '82 RX-7 had a $900 carb on it, and it was electronically controlled. If the car is FI then why would it need a carb? LOL Yeah, I have changed my mind about the RX-7 if it is still there when I get my settlement, I'll buy it. If it was a 13b I would definitely get it. Maybe I can find a 13b to put in it when I get it home.
