Tex, I've done this before but MANY years ago. Like over 25... Back when I had plenty of extra time but no extra money. Now I've got some (but not a lot) of extra money but not a lot of extra time. Guess that's life for ya!

Thanks for looking in!

And got it primed with epoxy primer. I prefer to blast and prime in sections to prevent the freshly blasted panels from starting to rust again.

That sure is nice work.

It's great to see something with serious issues come back so thoroughly.

I just picked up a 66 that looks just like yours did when you started...my floor boards are in better shape but same rusted out drivers side pillar base and roof rust around drip rail, except for the bed where yours has that sweet piece of angle iron mine has a beautiful 5 inch rust hole all the way across the front where it attaches to the front panel...so when can I send you mine for some repairs...your doing some really nice work keep posting pics it's a good motivator for us all!

Thanks for the comments guys!

Here comes more metal work....

I had to repair the rear cab corner inner panel. At first I was going only weld up the holes on the contoured sections and cut out and replace the flat section. But after I started welding I decided to weld all the holes up instead. I used a torch since I don't have a TIG.
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/95792329@N03/13985063933" title="IMG_1352 by Wes Cook, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5580/13985063933_879b71d91c.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="IMG_1352"></a>

First I welded the holes up.
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/95792329@N03/13985068453" title="IMG_1355 by Wes Cook, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7392/13985068453_33fe9a8393.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="IMG_1355"></a>

Then I fabbed a piece to fill in the large hole near the corner. I used a mallet and shot bag to form it.
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/95792329@N03/13961904431" title="IMG_1353 by Wes Cook, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7215/13961904431_042cbcc6cf.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="IMG_1353"></a>
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/95792329@N03/13965085895" title="IMG_1358 by Wes Cook, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5032/13965085895_1320b67e01.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="IMG_1358"></a>
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/95792329@N03/13961919322" title="IMG_1361 by Wes Cook, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7247/13961919322_86a8d29405.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="IMG_1361"></a>
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/95792329@N03/13965537864" title="IMG_1363 by Wes Cook, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2921/13965537864_88ac81305f.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="IMG_1363"></a>

Ground down then blasted and ready for primer.
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/95792329@N03/13961921571" title="IMG_1367 by Wes Cook, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5348/13961921571_bf228a91dc.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="IMG_1367"></a>
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/95792329@N03/13985081273" title="IMG_1369 by Wes Cook, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2923/13985081273_d31e082c5d.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="IMG_1369"></a>

On the inner side of the panel (the side towards the firewall that will show) I had to weld up all the gaps to close up the holes.
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/95792329@N03/13965549664" title="IMG_1372 by Wes Cook, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5188/13965549664_36eac4ab34.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="IMG_1372"></a>
<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/95792329@N03/13965103135" title="IMG_1375 by Wes Cook, on Flickr"><img src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7341/13965103135_360f1fbdd8.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="IMG_1375"></a>

The point of using the torch and not a MIG was so I could control the weld puddle and hammer-weld everything.

Hello everyone. I've been away from my build over a year due to family issues, work etc, my apologies! I'm back now and I hope to make a lot of progress in the coming months. Here's some pics of what I've gotten done recently.

I got the floorpan blasted and primed, except the section I still need to replace.

Next, I tore the frame down to the rails, sandblasted it primed it.

I swapped to 78 I-beams and spindles, I blasted and primed them.

rear end is blasted and primed.

The I-beams, rear axle, etc is loosely mounted so I can roll the frame around or out if needed. Next back to the cab. Still lots of rust repair and metal work to be done.

Thought I'd list the changes\mods\upgrades I plan on making.
-Pwr disk brakes up front (have 78 I-beams and Spindles) bought all new steering linkage. Still need new rotors and calipers.
-Pwr Steering (have 78 steering box)
351W/AOD tranny. Still need to find the tranny.
-lowered coil springs (still need to find)
-would like a 4 link\track arm setup for the rear, but I can't find any kits I like and don't think I can design one
-rear disk brakes for the 9"
-move gas tank to the rear (probably will use Mustang tank as many people have done)
-A/C (have vintage air unit)
-would like to add fuel injection

There's many more smaller things, but those listed are the biggies. This will by my daily driver when I finish so I want to build a nice, dependable ride... And good mileage!

The 351W I have is bored block, I have to buy crank, pistons, heads, intake etc etc. I have a 351C already built and running, but it's got 200K miles on it and is heavier than the Windsor and will effect my front spring choice. I'm considering installing the Cleveland first to get it running, and building the Windsor later, but I'd rather install the desired engine once and be done with it. Ahh decisions decisions....
