i have a 95 f-150 5-speed with a rear axle code of 12 which is a 2.73 ratio i thin..(too lazy to look it up again)..so i want to be able to smoke 4 banger s-10's off the line and i hual a trailer some times so what would be a bette ratio to switch to.. i am thinking 3.55 but do you think thats to high.
What size tires? 3.55s on the original 235/75/15 is a good ratio and not to high.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 27-Jul-02 AT 09:24 AM (EST)]Swapping the 2.73 gears for 3.55s was one of the first things done to my truck. I am running 30x9.50s as opposed to the stock 235/75s, but the 300 has no problem pulling a trailer. And while I try to refrain from racing as much as possible, my truck can easily take my friends '92 2.3L mustang; not sure about other trucks, though. :-)
i am running 235/75/15's. i to try no to race much but sometimes for fun. i want to get a enclosed trailer to hual about 3-4 quads in so i need some pulling power.
With 3.55 gears, your truck won't even break a sweat pulling a couple of ATVs. It shouldn't be too much of a strain now. You may have to slip the clutch a little to start out, though. I definitely recommend getting 3.55s.
