I'm trying to get it started right where it sits. Needs a radiator and some sort of carb on it. It has a spreadbore manifold for a 4300D. The holley that was just set on it is missing many parts and is way beyond fixing heat and pb blaster couldn't get the throttle plates free, im thinking about finding an adapter and a 4100 autolite, I'd like to stick with a 4300 but the problems with fuel percolation and secondary bog issues make me shy away from them, are there any know fixes for these during a rebuild? If anybody has any carbs they are tripping over feel free to pm me.
When I click the link, it says the page isn't available. Can somebody put the pics on here? I'm dying to see this! To the OP, I would love to see a 78/79 get restored. I love them with the square headlights. Keep us posted!
Finally got to it to haul it home, the trees all had leaves on them and the leaves held a lot of mosquitos, so getting it running where it sat was out of the question. Hooked onto it and pulled it backwards out of the woods and had to pull the left rear wheel, the brake shoes were rusted solid to the drum, I broke the handle on my 2lb cross pien hammer, went to the 3lb, still no dice. Got an 8lb maul and managed to crack the drum around the hub so the wheels would turn. Pulled it on my gooseneck and headed for home. Once home we cut the two front box bolts and pulled the whole box off (it was really rotted). My brother got some decent tires under the front end then it came time to start it.

There is a terrible knock in the clutch I think its the fork. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v...type=2&theater
The knock went away, I'm thinking the throwout bearing was seized. With the box removed I started cleaning the frame with a flapper disk on the angle grinder and cutting the rusted heat shields and box crossmembers off. The frame is rusted thin where the fuel tank sat next to the left frame rail. Some people may give up at this point but I'm WAY too stubborn for that. My plan is to find a half ton frame in the junkyard and cut the left frame rail between the back of the cab and the shock mount and weld it into the bad section of this frame and make somewhat of a double frame. Now just on the search for a good body.
