Im pretty sure its my water pump gone bad but ive never dealt with it so i wanna make sure before i order one. Im losing coolant like crazy. I topped off degas bottle this morning and after a long day of towing my 4k lb trailer, i pop the hood and theres almost no coolant at all in the degas. By the way the past week or two my EOT has been getting hotter quicker and its been gettin up to 210'. The ECT is still at 200 at the time but the EOT usually never gets that hot. So i chill for about a half hour after i get home with my trailer and i go out to my truck and theres a 10inch puddle sorta runnin down my driveway right under the left side of my radiator and underneath the plastic shroud is full and dripping. I did just replace my radiator also. Is this my water pump??? Thanks for any input.
You need to crawl under it and trace the water back to its origin. May even have to do it with the engine running and warmed up. The fan can spread the water and make it look like it's dripping from a diff. area. Don't think anyone here will make a wag on the info that you've supplied. At least I would'nt.
Thats not enough info to throw out an opinion? Has anyone had a water pump go bad?? Its obviously dripping from that area and i noticed it after it was parked for a while. And its from the left side of the radiator. I go underneath the truck, while its running, and the plastic radiator shroud is full and dripping. And theres no coolant in the degas bottle. Anyone replaced their water pump had these symptoms?? Im gunna tear into it tomorrow so ill figure it out I guess, i just wanna order the part asap. Thanks
I would start with the Radiator, pull the shroud and look real close to
1. hoses
2. drain valve
3. Radiator seams
4. Heater core
5. then work your way in to the water pump
Good luck. dont put only water in for testing, still do distilled and coolent that will keep the rust down
