Post fan?

I have a 1995 F-150 Super Cab and it makes a very annoying noise. While driving down the road, it makes a whining sound, and at first i believed it was coming from the alternator, but i replaced the alternator, i also know it is not the drive train. Could it be the fan. Please Help!

What engine? What kind of sound does it make? Is it a high pitched squeel, low rumbling noise, does it seem to follow engine RPM, etc... The more information you can give the better.

The fan clutch can certainly cause noise complaints. Usually people will complain of a load roaring sound at lower RPM's though. Another common noise generator in that general area is the belt tensioner pulley.

does it change with speed? Sound like tires, either a really agressive tread, or a broken belt in the tire.

Ckeck the black idler pullies. the stock ones are plasitc and the start to look like stopsigns after time, and the bearings wear out. Napa sells steel replacement ones. i went through a clutch fan and alternator before i fount the proplem.

Question fan?

I know that the belt pulleys are still round, but they look as old as a methusal. How much did you pay and is it an easy job? I have replaced my alternator as well.
