I'd say since its a 74, its pretty worn "in" already, how many miles on it?
All things wear out over time and yes Virginia big ol meats do wear things out a little faster, but not like wheel bearings in a weekend running 33's.
Me personally I would not talk to or listen to that guy any more, he's just jealous and talking smack cause you own a cool as hell ol Ford truck! lol

This is true. Hell even driving the thing is causing wear and tear.
Best ya leave it parked in a nice warm shed somewhere and cover it over with a nice tarp and a blanket or two.
NEVER wear it out then!!
