I may have a small leaking head gasket in my 460. I found a small amount of oil floating in my radiator. Although it could also be trans fluid. It doesn't smoke but does overheat.
Would anyone recommend using those over the counter seal products?
No on the over the counter seal products .. When the motor is up to operating temp if you grab the upper radiator hose with a rag being careful of the fan blade squeeze the hose to see if there is excessive pressure build up .. Any air bubbles in the top of the radiator with cap off and motor running ?
Not sure haven't checked yet but will this afternoon. Also, why no on the over the counter products? Just curious.
Thanks
The idea of replacing the head gaskets on a truck with the motor in it is the least appealing of engine repair so I totally understand any reluctance you may have in doing so but it is my experience the aftermarket stuff is only a temporary solution that gives you a false sense of security that will probably end up with you running the motor in a compromised state leading to eventual permanent damage to the lower end of the motor .. On another note if your in radiator AT cooler has failed your AT may be at risk also .. finding the problem first is in your best interest ..
