Love my Sterling Grey....I'm on my 3rd. 09, 11 and now I've ordered a 13 in Sterling. Comes very close to matching my Alloy Grey 07 Mustang and they look great together when I tow the Mustang on my black flatbed trailer.
I see a lot of Sterling Grey here in Iowa and while traveling...so if you're looking for something that you won't see just anywhere, pick something other than the Sterling Grey. It is however, a great color that looks great and is pretty easy to keep looking good even when a bit dirty.
One thing I've learned about vehicle colors over the years is that the more standard colors (Blacks, Grays, Whites, Silvers, Reds) tend to hold their values better than vehicles with what I'll call period colors ('70's Browns, '80's Greens, '90's Teals, '00's Oranges). Think about how bad those teal mid-90s trucks all look today. Plus the Sterling Gray color isn't quite as dull as you'd think. It's got a heavy metallic that tends to pick up other colors as the light varies.
I had a 1997 F150 XLT SCab, two tone in Teal, and Gray. Sharp truck, didn't see many like it. I've always been partial to the blues, that's why the '11 is Blue Flame!

Should have kept that one....
I had a '97 XLT supercab as well...mine was a 4x4 in the dark toreador red color. That was my first new truck....still miss it.
Out of those choices I would have to roll with the sterling grey, which was one of the three colors I was willing to accept on my 13' Screw Its going to be easier to clean, not show as many boo boo's and re-sell better, IMO.....Naturally the best colors for long term appearance, resell and paint upkeep are the standard white, silver, beige or gold............I ended up with my silver love machine below...
Of those 3 colors Id choose kodiak brown, it looks sweet, it looks black but its not....its not gray like every other 3rd car on the road and you dont see them very often. I considered it but they did not have one anywhere within 200 miles so I went with blue instead and have been very happy with the blue
Funny you mentioned that - was at a red light a few days ago and the first 11 vehicles in line were gray!
But to the OP - I chose the Sterling Gray Metallic and have no regrets. It's still looks great when slightly dirty.
Like AlaskanEx said the Brown is kinda' rare, so it's got my vote. I have a Sterling Gray one, and I like it too. It really looks good in low lighting. The Brown is the equivalent of the "Stone Green" (which looked brown, gold, or green depending on the light) of the 2008's. I'd get the brown if they'd had it when I bought mine. If not, then Gray.
I decided to go with Blue Jeans Metallic. Picked-up the Truck Thursday afternoon and immediately rented a trailer, loaded my Bronco and towed it 120 miles to an event. The truck towed really well once the transmission and I learned a bit from each other. I couldn't be happier with my choice.
It doesn't matter what color you choose for your truck as long as you like it. Just remember this, nothing ages the truck faster than the paint color. Black, white, silver are the three colors that don't give away the age of the truck.
I know it is an Expy (F150 in a few months). My wife texted me back while I was signing and said I can not believe you are getting that color. My daughter said I should paint it blue. I have received more compliments on the color of this vehicle and now my wife is taking it. Brown was not my choice - but I had to have the towing package and auto hatch. So it was my only option. I smile because there is a 250 and I have seen a couple F150's around in the brown now also.
That's not Kodiak Brown, I got the KB with the brown interior. I love it, and I get many compliments on it daily. I have only seen a couple other Fords with the same color.
not the best pics, but you can tell the color.
It looks black or really dark brown when the sun is not directly on it.
