Trans gear ratios
The post you are talking about did not come up at all. I want to know too.
Don't mean to hijack a thread, but what's the difference between ZFs for 3.55 rear and 4.10 rear? Is it the speedo gear that's different or is it the gear ratios?

Now, how can you tell whether you have close-ratio or wide-ratio?

ZF S5-42 Close Ratio
3.79:1(Reverse), 4.14:1, 2.37:1, 1.42:1, 1:1, 0.77:1
ZF S5-42 Wide Ratio
5.24:1(Reverse), 5.72:1, 2.94:1, 1.61:1, 1:1, 0.76:1
I think someone said the close ratio was for diesel 4x4s, but I'm not sure.

Ok, I'll check my tranny tag for the total ratio line. Which opens another question, is it possible to change gear ratios in a ZF for closer gear ratios, even closer than the "close ratio" version? I think the bull low will be overkill for my truck...
