I was wondering what you guys think about these speakers :
I have 2 kicker comp vr 10's, 2 Kicker k60 6.5's and 2 kicker k69 6x9's. I got these on eBAY really cheap. Are they any good?
What amp/amps would you recomend I use to run these?
Does any one know of a box for a pair of 10's that fits under the back seat of a 93 F150 xcab?
Kicker makes good stuff. You bought some good gear. The Comp VR's are the standout of the items you purchased. I would leave the 6x9's unamped. The 6.5's probably have a rms rating of 75ish/per. The Comp VR's, I believe, have a rms rating of around 300/per. So you need a 2 channel amp that puts out 75-100 watts per channel, and a Class D mono amp that puts out 600-750 watts.
A few things though...
1)Budget. Can't reccomend if we don't know what you want to spend.
2)Voice Coil configuration of the VR's. Dual 4 ohm; Dual 2 ohm; Single 4 ohm; Which one? This makes a big difference when looking at amps.
3) Make a box. Quite easy, really. Just take a few measurements, and the people on this forum will do the rest. Heck, we can tell you how long each piece of wood needs to be If you want to look at some good quality boxes, go here >>>Sub Thump<<< Much more expensive than if you just built it yourself, though.
The VR's are dual voice coil 4 ohms, but the specs say they can be hooked up in 2 ohms.
Budget..... Well like every one else best bang for my buck. I was figuring $400 total for my amps. That's shopping around on eBay.
I can flex a little on that though.
2 dual 4's can be wired to a final 1 or 4 ohm load. If you want matching amps, and also want to save a few bucks, this is what I would do...
JBL 180.2 (90x2) at Etronics for $139...for the 6.5's.
JBL 600.1 at Etronics for $199 (600 watts at 1 ohm)
If you spend another $80, you can get the JBL 1200.1 (instead of the 600.1). This would give you the 600+watts at 4 ohms and the amp would run a little easier/cooler. It would also allow, if you want to upgrade to something bigger and better in the future, to have 1200 watts at 1 or 2 ohms. Personally, I would get the 1200.1 and the 180.2...
Etronics is a great place to do business, too. The amps are good, cheap, power.
So the JBL'slook like a good deal.
Has any one had any problems with them?
Does any one recomend anything else?
I was originally wanting to go with Soundstream amps, but there really aren' t too many on eBay.
The only real problem with the JBL's is the inaccurate crossover. It's not that big a deal, if you dial it in using your ear and not your eyes. They are marked inaccurately. If you use test tones, you can dial in the correct frequency (and while you're at it, use the test tones to set your gains). Kind of a pain in the ****, though. Other than that, they are good, cheap power.
The only other cheap alternative to the JBL's would be Hifonics. They make good amps with good crossovers. You'll pay a little more, but not much. The JBL's shouldn't be much of a problem, though.
