oil additives?
Has anyone used Lucas Oil Stabilizer? A mechanic friend of mine told me to never to change my oil without it, however from what I read in these forums you shouldn't add anything to your oil. Also, I put on a Banks system that has a chip, transcommand, 4" exhaust and bigger wastegate, and a tymar intake. It doesn't seem to me that I have any more power tham the stock setup. I pulled my 24 ft. travel trailer the other night and didn't seem to have as much power as I did before. Also, the turbo made some funny whinning noises that I wondered about. the truck is a 2001 F350 with only 30,000 on it. Just wondering if i'm paranoid. New to diesels so I am still trying to figue things out. Thanks for any help.

No offense to your friend, but after you read this, I don't think that you will be using Lucas.

Your turbo is whining because of the Tymar. It lets more air in and more sound out. it always sounded like that, you just couldn't hear it.

Thanks jschira, appreciate the info. Guess I wont be putting that in my engine anymore. Did kinda wonder about it after using it the first time. poured like honey! didnt use it last time, instead put a bit of marvels in. this time nothing but straight dello. (switching from rotella). I wonder if this is why i dont feel anymore power? anyhoo, I do appreciate the wisdom of ya'all.

I have never liked any oil additive... The way I see it, big oil companies spend a bunch of bucks brewing their oils.. Any "additives" that are necessary to enhance the basic oil, I figure are included, so I don't need some thick oil additive that looks good in a little plastic demonstrator ... Just MHO........
