Air lift bags with the compressor & dual gauge with the in cab controller. I had 5 hotshot trucks (3500 Dually's pulling 40' Goosenecks) and ran these systems on all of them with no issue's over a combined 1.5 million miles. I like the in cab control because you can fine tune how it rides as your going down the ride. 5#'s can make a big difference on ride quality.
Ride Rites I have heard ride a little stiffer than the Air Lifts.
I have the Firestone airbags and an Airlift wireless remote compressor. Awesome setup. You can change the pressure on the fly to suit the road conditions. No problems with the setup so far.
Here is a link for the truck camper forum. RV.Net Open Roads Forum: Truck Campers
I have found a lot of good information there when I purchased my truck camper.
I've got a question for you. I have the SmartAir system on my truck and it's wired up according to the instructions, with the exception that I ran it through one of my upfitter switches. When I'm unhooking my trailer I don't want the bag to dump until I've completely unhitched and pulled away, so I use the upfitter to shut the system off till I'm ready.
Recently the system has started to dump whether the switch is on or off, but the compressor will only come on when the switch is "on".
I know there are two "hot" leads, one wired to constant hot and the other to an ignition switched hot. I wired the ignition hot wire through my upfitter. Would switching these two connections cause this condition?
I'm thinking it would because power to the magnetic sensor would be constant (bypassing my upfitter) and it would tell the solenoid to dump. The compressor wouldn't come on because now it's lead is run through my upfitter.
I had some work done recently where the cab had to come off and I'm thinking when they put it back together they switched these two leads somehow.
I'm considering airbags for my 2013 F250 XLT - are there any limitations for installing the Load Lifter 5000 Ultimate air bags (the ones with the internal jounce) in an F250? Is there a minimum frame to axle distance?
It sounds like you don't have to worry about minimum air pressure when operating without a load - so, does the frame contact the internal jounce when the air bag pressure is dumped?
There is a fitment note on that kit: "Fits single rear wheel (SRW) and dual rear wheel (DRW) models. Will fit ALL models without a fifth-wheel hitch and will also fit most side mount fifth wheel hitch applications. Does not fit cab & chassis applications."
