I never started a build thread back last September because I didn't think it was needed. I should have called it project snowball. My good friend wanted to restore his dads 77 highboy that he had since 77 and it was BAD. What started out as get it roadworthy turned into frame off ground up resto, D60 front swap crossover conv and body swap. Then time for paint. I have over 300 pics but I shouldn't clog up FTE. Here's how it started.
After discovering that hauling many loads of wood the D44 had a bent tube from the leaf spring out we needed a axle. So we got a 79 HP D60. Too bad it had the wrong gears.
We used a 76 F150 complete truck. It was a decent body but not the best. It would have been great to use the orig but not in the shape it was in for what we wanted.
The truck is near finished as of today in the body shop. Everything is new from DC interior and out. Pretty much everything is new. Last thing to purchase yet is tires but we have the wheels. The trim isn't on yet and lots of little things missing yet but here it is as if tonight.
Thanks. I was pretty happy with my part of it and very happy to see it go to the next stop for paint. I think the best part is going to be when his dad sees it. It might be another couple weeks till I have some good finished pics.
I'm working on it. The color is the factory color Tangerine for what I believe was only on Canadian built F250's. Today all of the trim is getting dipped, stripped, polished and re anodized before getting mounted next week.
