I have a 2003 F150 Super Crew and I would like a cover that alaws me to get the maximum use out of the bed. I have looked at a plastic cover that rolls up but it takes up about 9 inches by the cab. Any other types?
I have had the soft tonneau cover that snaps on, and now I have an ARE fiberglass lid on my new ride. DEFINITELY spend the money and get a fiberglass lid. You can lock them to keep all your gear secure. They open up easily for access to the bed, and can be taken off easily to put larger items in the bed.
And in the winter, especially here in Chi-town where it's cold, the soft tonneau covers are IMPOSSIBLE to put on. They shrink and can't be snapped on.
Bottom line-If you can afford it, go with the fiberglass!!!!!!
I have had a couple different box covers on my last two trucks. The last truck had (91F150) a Wal-Mart cheap cover that rolled up and was cheap. The cover worked ok for the price exept in the winter you had to go to a car wash to put it on because it used a plastic overcenter lip to hold the tarp down. It also had the covered wagon look and you almost needed two people to put roll it out. The bow kimbs were not attached. My new cover on my 97 is a larado from acess. It rolls up and down easy in the cold and is flat across the top. The acess useses velcro to hold it down. I love this cover you can easily roll it up or out by yourself.
FIBERGLASS if you can afford it....i've had 2 soft covers that snap on....i don't mind them but my next one will be fiberglass for sure.......if not fiberglass get a soft cover from ex-tang but not the snap one.....get the one that is snapless........it fits together better and looks a lot cleaner.....
I have the Access roll-up cover Limited Edition. It uses a velcro rail instead of snaps, and when rolled up only takes up a couple of inches at the front of the bed.
