Question switch from idiot lights to gauges

I have a 78 f-150 with a 300-6 vin code k I have the dash package with fuel temp and idiot lights. I bought a new cluster with the alt and oil presure gauges and planned on putting it in.
I figured I'd have to change the oil sending unit and the voltage regulator as these are different depending on wich set up you have.
Turns out that the whole plug on the back is different the plug on the new cluster (main plug to circuit bord) is wider then the old one. If I get one that fits the board out of a junk yard can it be rewired or will I have to get a whole new harness? I know I can rewire it, but I really don't want to have to trace each circuit and wire through the harness.
Has anyone done this swap? any helpfull advice would be appreciated.

14 pin for idiot lights.
18 pin for gauges.

You have to swap Main Harnesses to make it work.

It's too bad you didn't ask here before you bought the cluster.

Thanks for the info, Yeah your right I should've asked first, or at least looked to see how the gauges were hooked up to the cluster.

thanks for responding

ps:
Does anyone know where I can get a main harness, besides an autowrecker of course?
