Hello,
This is the best sub forum I can think of for this question. My turn signal switch will not automatically reset after a right turn but works fine to the left. My question is does the airbag need to be removed to replace this and if so what is the best method of removal other than battery disconnect etc... The steering wheel cover does not seem to want to open easily so any advice is appreciated.
The airbag system is totally safe. It stores NO energy that might trigger the bag, other than in the main battery, and it takes 2 out of 3 crash sensors tripping at the same time to pop it. Don't worry. As soon as you unplug the airbag, there's a clip inside the connector that even protects you from static electricity. Just pull the 4 nuts from the front of the wheel (the side facing the cluster) and remove the airbag.
