Heater control cable??

Hello everyone, my fathers 1986 f150 non a/c truck needs a new heater temp control cable( the top one that runs through the firewall to the heater box). Does anybody know if ford still sells these? LMC doesn't show them. Any help on this would be appreciated. Thanks.

It is NOT the same cable!

ford dealer here (the one that actually does anything for you) Better try another dealer! said it was obsolete That's BS!

so now i just moved the lever on top of the heater box (in the engine compartment) by hand. using the fan to regulate the heat.
The heater control cables used on F150/350's are NOT the same as the F600/900's used.

Did the dealer happen to pass along the part number, and/or look on their computer to see if another dealer had the cable, since they claimed it was obsolete?

I'm guessing they did not look. I'm also guessing they never even bothered looking up the part number, and just shined you on, because...

The cable(s) are NOT obsolete.

There are two different cables for your application:

E4TZ18518A .. Heater Temperature Control Cable / AVAILABLE from Ford.

Fits: 1984/86 F150/350 & Bronco.

MSRP: $31.97 // FTE Ford Dealer sponsor PARTSGUYED.COM price: $25.70.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
E4TZ18552B .. Heater Air Control Cable / This cable is also AVAILABLE from Ford.

Fits: 1985/86 F150/350 & Bronco.

MSRP: $23.02 // PARTSGUYED.COM price: $16.57.

Was this the thread? That was four years ago, hopefully they still have some. Thanks for the help.

My father contacted our local ford dealership and they told us they don't have them anymore. Does anyone know where we can find one other than a junkyard? Thanks

If the casing is good, go to a lawnmower shop and get a new inner cable. Briggs & Stratton used to sell them separately.

You, Oh Grumpy One, had deleted it by the time I waltzed down there...

OP - Apparently there are others available at Ford dealers, the ones I found were from a different source.

So, suffice it to say, it seems that both are available, although only one of the E4TZ-18518-A is....

Chris (ctubutis) is my house guest...said none were available, but he did not look on the Ford dealer parts locator.

I told him to waltz to my new computer room (that he set up) and take a look-see.

TALLAPOOSA FORD in Alexander City AL has ONE = 256-234-3432.

But, do you need this cable or E4TZ-18552-B? See post 9 for applications.

Ok officially confused? Your first post you said there were no E4TZ-18518-A available? Now you say there is one? Sorry if I'm being dense. Thanks for the help.
