hi,have just joined the group on behalf of a friend who is definitely NOT computer savvy!!.he has a 1947 i think 7GY truck and needs some parts which he cannot find over here in the UK.Reading several threads trucks are supposed to have 16" wheel rims whereas his truck has 17" rims and he needs 2 wheelrims as one is badly buckled and he does not have a spare. Also he needs 4 Ford hubcaps to suit. Can anybody help on this one please?? over that side of the large pond.I saw the truck yesterday and it is 80% finished having been subjected to a ground-up full nut and bolt restoration. The flat head 6 engine runs a dream having been fully rebuilt from a wreck as has the rear axle which when dismantled had all bearings basically collapsed!!!.It is one hell of a dream machine and will be near concours when finished and he is a good mate (an ex-employer of mine many years ago) so I do try now and again to lend a favour/help out.I think its a 6600lb truck, should that have 17" wheelrims ???.Ok i am as green as the next bloke so any help that can be given would be appreciated.I have added my email: Electric71@hotmail.com,thanks in advance for any replies.Just checked via phone and keith has been told by several people in the USA that this truck is an oddball as supposedly it was only built for 6 months having the 6 cyl engine and 4 speed trans. He has had some fun getting some parts because of this.Again, any help will be appreciated.
My mate Keiths has,i think single rear wheels, not twins, but is definitely the same cab although his has the tub,yet to be re-fitted,as a pickup.I said it was a rarety. But yours looks bloody good.Let me know what bits you need and I see if I cant put the two of you in touch with each other.
Christian, tyres are not the problem, its 2 actual steel wheel rims the problem, the one my mate has is seriously buckled and he needs a spare wheel to go with the truck as well.Tyres he already has, rims to fit tyres to is the problem.
