Recent Reliability Upgrades

Wanted to share my recent tear down on the ole 6.4. Had a slight bed plate leak so while it was out of the truck, it was upgrade time. Upgrades include:

*ARP head studs with factory Ford gaskets.
*Heads machined and magna-fluxed.
*EGR delete.
*New Ford lifters
*New rocker arms

Want to give a little info on the truck and the condition of the truck when we got inside. I bought the truck used at 64k miles last February. The original owner had taken extremely good care of the truck. Maintenance was done on time and the King Ranch seats looked brand new. He obviously towed heavy due to the gooseneck hitch and worn out rear leaf springs. (Truck squats way too much with even light loads). At 65k, I put a Spartan tuner, full 5" exhaust, and an aFe intake on the truck. From then to now where the truck currently sits at 85k miles, the truck has seen the 275hp tune 90% of those miles. It has seen 7 drag strip passes, 2 times down the track with a sled, and 2 dyno runs with the 310hp tune. I tow a good bit and those weights have ranged anywhere from 8-23k pounds. When I tow, I run with a stock hp setting. Here recently, the 210hp tune is my tune for towing. This truck before it went under the knife has never puked or had one ounce of coolant lose. When the heads came off, 6 of the 8 cylinders had a slight blow around them. I figure I was one or two heavy summer tows away from puking. The bottom end of the motor looked fantastic. Cylinders still had a great cross hatch pattern. The low pressure oil pump was spotless and the front cover showed no signs what so ever of cavitation. It was extremely nice for peace of mind sake to see the inside of the engine and do all this before warranty runs out. I guess the reason for the post is to give an account for all the guys who daily drive and play with the big tunes. People always want to know how well these motors handle daily driven HP levels at 550+. Hope this post can shed some insight on it.
