Cleaned motor (commutator carbon) windings look great, no hot spots or slung solder or plastic, brushes not cracked and in contact. wires from connector to brushes very low resistance, permanent magnets very strong
The d thing still won't turn or hum or buzz or anything when
12 V. applied to either wire and grounded to case. Bought a used from junkyard, same condition. what the heck am i missing?
Mine doesnt work either, have an 86 BII 4x4,just never got into it & checked why, only use it on the road mostly for work,no snow here in Ga.
I'd take the motor to a dealer, most of the time they'd be glad to check it out for free & see why it isnt workin,or if it maybe another problem,as in maybe not enough current getting to the motor in the first place.
Good possibility you bought a bad when from a junkyard, usualy isnt a good idea buyin electrical motors n such from a junkyard,i learned the hard way & a pocket full of $
yeah, well my junkyard is pretty good its returnable! The ford dealer is an ---! $60 to check it out. same at several auto electrical services and that's with it out.
Dont know what to tell ya then, the ford dealer i deal with checks things like that out for free,Bobby Jones Ford motorsport & truck dealer in Augusta Ga.Maybe auto zone will check it out, they check electricals for free,or maybe you can you junkyard have it checked since they garauntee there stuff, would make sence to me.if you getting the right power to the motor, its in the motor itself, point blank
Just got a good motor. Brain drizzle ! Am I dumb or what? You have to put power to either wire (orange & bright yellow) and ground to the other. You can not ground through the case. Duh!
thanks people. Now to put it in and see if the relays and touch control are working.
OK here we go. xfer shift motor good and bolted up aand connected. All fuses in panel good. No apparent power to touch control, no sound of relays clicking. Any help appreciated
i would start at the touch control, trace back to where it goes if it isnt getting any juice,i havent done that but,i'll be doin the same thing you are doing soon, just get a 12 volt test light, start tracin is all you can do
