I know this will vary by location but what's the going rate for rebuilding a 7.3? I have one with 260k and I believe it has a cracked ring all the cylinders are around. 375psi but #5 is at 150psi so we know it's certainly internal at this point. Would you rebuild the existing block or just rip it out and send it back as a core? I haven't heard of many 7.3 failures but I believe this one had a rough life prior to my acquiring it.
If you have a broken ring, prepare to have that cylinder bore sleeved. It's likely that the broken section has worn a huge groove in the cylinder wall.
I have one just like that sitting in the shed...same cylinder, too.
